Mirumi in Switzerland: where to buy, price, delivery

5 August 2026 · 5 min read · By the MIRUMI

Mirumi, the shy little plush robot from Yukai Engineering, is sold mainly in Japan. No physical retailer stocks it in Switzerland, so buyers go through an online reseller — with customs lying in wait. Here is how to get one without an unpleasant surprise, and why ordering from within Switzerland changes everything.

Why Mirumi remains hard to find

Yukai Engineering is a small Japanese studio, already known for Qoobo, the cushion with a tail. Its runs are produced in limited quantities and allocated first to Japan.

There is no official distribution for the brand in Switzerland. European stock is therefore split among independent resellers, which explains the frequent sell-outs and the price gaps between websites.

On a scarce product, a price well below the market average deserves suspicion rather than enthusiasm: on limited-run electronics, that margin simply does not exist.

Ordering from Switzerland: what it saves you

This is the decisive point. A Mirumi ordered from Japan or the EU arrives with Swiss import VAT of 8.1 %, the carrier's clearance fee, and a wait counted in weeks.

From within Switzerland, none of those apply: the parcel travels on the Post's domestic network, the price shown is the price paid, and tracking stays legible end to end.

It also makes returns workable. Sending an electronic device back to Japan often costs more than the device itself — a return within Switzerland does not.

Mirumi in Geneva

Our company is based in Geneva, and we ship across Switzerland from here: Geneva and its canton, Vaud, Valais, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, but also Zurich, Bern, Basel and Ticino.

We do not run a shop open to the public: sales happen online, with tracked dispatch. That is what lets us keep a stable price rather than passing on high-street rent.

What it actually does

Mirumi clips onto a bag, a school satchel or a pushchair. Thanks to its sensors it observes its surroundings, turns away shyly, then looks back at you. No app, no screen, no account to create: it runs on its own, on a rechargeable battery.

That is what sets it apart in the companion-robot category. It asks for nothing, notifies nothing, collects nothing. It reacts, simply — and that is precisely the appeal.

Warranty and after-sales service

Mirumi contains a battery, sensors and a motor: it is an electronic device, with everything that implies. The question to ask any reseller is therefore simple: where do you send the product back if it fails?

If the answer is « to Japan », after-sales service is theoretical. With us, returns happen within Switzerland, inside thirty days, with no customs paperwork.
